CRR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (CDO)

By Hope Johnson

Members of the CRR CDO continue to work to determine the feasibility of several projects and the direction that the organization wants to take. Several people met with Redmond School District Superintendent Gary Peterson and Roseann Stevenson, Principal of the Terrebonne School, to determine if a new elementary school on the Ranch was in the district's plans any time in the near future.

They also met with representatives of the Boora Group - the architects who have been nationally recognized for sensitive and appropriate design solutions that create strong identities and forester interaction with the community. The firm advocates "green" strategies such as day lighting. A representative of the Boora Group, Heinz Rudolf, believes in functionalism and states, "If you ignore all these good things that nature provides automatically, then you have to overcome them". He has utilized many "green functions" to have his buildings incredibly economical from an operational point of view.

The Crooked River Ranch project is still in its infancy and public input will be sought as the CDO endeavors to determine the wants and the needs of the community. Anyone interested in working with the CDO either as a member of the Board of Directors or on a working committee, should call 504-1059 or 548-1246.
